Unveiling Innovation at IMEKO 2024: A Unique Synergy with DESY & XFEL's SRI Exhibition

As the scientific community eagerly anticipates the XXIV IMEKO World Congress, set to take place in Hamburg from August 26-29, 2024, there is an added layer of excitement this year. Parallel to IMEKO 2024, the 15th International Conference on Synchrotron Radiation Instrumentation (SRI) will also be hosted in Hamburg, running from August 26-30, 2024, at the Conference Centre Hamburg (CCH). This simultaneous occurrence promises a remarkable convergence of minds and technologies, providing a unique platform for participants to explore and engage with the latest innovations in their fields.

The IMEKO World Congress, a cornerstone event for measurement science and technology professionals, will offer its participants access to the renowned SRI Exhibition. Organized by the Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY) and European XFEL, the SRI Conference is a cornerstone in the field of synchrotron radiation (SR) and X-ray free electron laser (XFEL) technologies. This conference series has been a beacon of excellence for nearly 40 years, bringing together leading scientists and researchers from around the world.

Attendees of the IMEKO World Congress will have the unique privilege of visiting the SRI Exhibition, allowing them to delve into the cutting-edge developments in SR and XFEL instrumentation. This cross-participation is reciprocated, as SRI participants are also granted access to the IMEKO exhibition and workshops. Such interaction fosters a dynamic environment for the exchange of ideas, collaborative research, and the advancement of scientific knowledge.

The SRI 2024 Conference, hosted at the CCH, will feature an extensive program, including comprehensive overview presentations from various nuclear resonance instruments at renowned facilities such as APS, DESY, ESRF, and SPring-8. These will be complemented by shorter, focused talks on specific subjects, addressing the challenges posed by upgraded X-ray sources and the ongoing developments at HEPS and XFELs. The workshop, held from August 24 (post-lunch) to August 26 (lunchtime), promises to be a highlight for beamline scientists and researchers.

Hamburg is poised to be a hub of scientific discovery and innovation this August. The collaboration between IMEKO and SRI 2024 not only highlights the importance of cross-disciplinary interaction but also underscores the commitment to advancing technology and research in measurement science.
